Halloween 2010

Halloween was Saturday and Sunday for us. Saturday morning we went to the Plano Center. There was bounce houses, costumes, crafts, ballet dancing and karate demonstratoins. Sunday we went to church and trick or treated with a friend that evening. It was a very fun weekend!

When she saw this cardboard lion Landry asked "Is that Aslan?" We told her yes. "I want a picture with him."

Real snow, just add water. It's even cold like snow! We watched some dances from the Nutcracker and some karate demonstrations, made a shaker and a water color picture and saw a king before going home. I asked Landry if she wanted a picture with the king. She answered "no" and quickly hid behind Brad.

Brad, Suman and I had just as much fun as Landry and Ananya. They would knock on a door or ring a doorbell and if no one answered within 10 seconds or so they told each other "No one is home. Lets go to that house." There were 2 or 3 houses in a row that didn't answer the door and the girls didn't get the least bit discouraged. It was fun to watch and listen to them. We trick or treated for about an hour and a half, came home and ate supper then handed candy out to the older kids. Landry enjoyed giving candy as much as getting it. She would ask "Are there going to be more, are there going to be more?" Needless to say it was a very Happy Halloween filled with nothing but treats!

Getting in the Halloween Spirit

Last week Brad was out of town. Friday we decided to bake him some Halloween cookies. Landry had also been invited to a Halloween craft party at our neighbors house. Landry was excited about being included by the "big girls". It was an all around fun Friday: Daddy was coming home, we baked Halloween cookies and hung out with friends.

The dough is made and the cookie cutters are ready...

Tah Dah. We later iced the cookies with orange icing as we ate them. Landry even put white, black and orange sprinkles on some. Then we went next door.





Mirror ball, pumpkins, cookies, chocolate milk and decorating first initials. Landry decorated her L with purple sparkly and tiger material.

Last but not least Saturday morning we tested out our fog machine.

Texas State Fair 2010

Yesterday was perfect for going to the state fair. Brad was able to take off early from work and the weather was in the mid 70's. This weekend is the last weekend so off we went!

The first thing we did was see Mother Goose.

Landry was kind of into the rhymes.




After Mother Goose we went to the rabbit house. There were all kinds of rabbits. Landry informed us that this rabbit was the white rabbit from Alice in Wonderland.

These brown rabbits were the biggest rabbits we've ever seen.

They took up their cage from one side to the other. Look at the other rabbits in their cages compared to these rabbits.

Cute little fluffy rabbit. Landry couldn't resist feeling the fur. We managed to get out of the rabbit house without Landry asking for a rabbit even once.

It was super neat to see, feed and pet a giraffe.

We were able to get very close.

This reminded me of "Hook 'em horns".

Landry wanted to feed not the goats, this goat in particular. The goat didn't mind.

As mentioned in the post before this one, naptime follows lunch. Landry is telling Brad to be quiet, it's naptime.

She wasn't so sure about feeding or petting the one hump camel. I smile at her facial expression.

Moving on to the alpacas. They were kind of cute...minus all of the stuff in their hair.

I didn't catch the name of this type of goat. There may not be a specific name for them. They had 3 horns. This one had 4.

he wasn't scared of us at all.

She wanted her picture taken here yet wouldn't let me take her picture with some of the animals. Go figure.

Farming at the fair. This was neat. It required using our imagnation; the food and animals weren't real. We watered peach trees then took a peach. We fed the chickens and took an egg. We planted seeds and took a vegetable. We fed the cows and took a carton of milk. We fed the sheep and took some wool. Lastly we went to the farmer's market to sell our goods. Landry earned a "dollar" for her hard work which she spent it on some Cheetos.

Howdy folks. Hope you enjoyed the farm. Farming made us hungry and it rightly so. It was supper time. We got our supper and headed for the pig races where we could sit down and eat with a little entertainment.

We finally made it to the cars. Well, some of the cars.

Someone must have just cut Landry off in traffic.

Brad had had them before. Landry and I tasting Dippin Dots for the first time. They were yummy. We enjoyed them while waiting on the parade.

Surprise! We're in Mississippi

Thursday October 7th Landry and I left for Mississippi upon hearing that my dad, Poppa, would be having triple bypass surgery that Monday. I thought it would cheer him up to spend time with Landry. Unfortunately Brad was unable to make the trip with us. This meant I had to be super smart about traveling the 8 hours with just Landry and myself. We left Texas Thursday and drove as far as West Monroe, Louisiana. Some of our good friends welcomed us to stay with them. We woke up Friday morning and were back on the road by 8. We arrived in Clarksdale right at lunch so we picked Poppa up and went to The Lunchbox. It was very tasty. After lunch we went back to Poppa and Nanna's so Landry could take a nap.

Saturday morning: breakfast at McDonalds (except for Poppa, he's been trying to watch what he eats).

Saturday afternoon we surprised Gran and Laylay. They had no idea we were in town.

Saturday night we had supper at The Stone Pony. The pizza and salad were so good! Landry has taken a liking to salads.

Before leaving Sunday we had lunch, BYB of course, with Gran and Laylay at Laylay's house. Naturally after lunch it's nap time so Landry made sure Gran took her nap.

We truly enjoyed our trip to MS.

We're praying that everything goes well with Poppa's surgery.
