She likes to move!

In the video above pay attention at 00:40, 01:05 and 02:00.

In this video there's not really any obvious movement past 00:47.

Really watch from 00:45 to the end in this video. I mean, you can watch before if you want the cool part is from 00:45 til the end.

The Little Mermaid

Last summer and the one before Landry expressed an interest in swimming lessons. This summer when she expressed interest again we went and signed up. Yay! Landry really enjoyed the lessons and truly learned from them.

Day 1

Getting acquainted with the water and instructor.

Practicing kicking.

A little floating.

Swimming to the wall...

and back to the instructor.
Day 1 was about getting acquainted with the pool and instructors. It was also a chance for the instructors to see how the kids were in the water and what skills they may already have.

Day 2

Given that Landry has been exposed to being in a swimming pool since she was 2 and had some basic swimming skills she was put in the advanced beginner level.

In this picture and the next Landry is practicing kicking, holding her breath and swimming with her face in the water all at the same time.

Floating with a little help.

Floating on her own!

Day 3

A little more floating then she got vertical in the water and swam back to the wall.

Day 4

I'm not sure I took pictures from days 5 and 6. Overall swimming lessons were a total success. Landry had a blast while learning to swim. As you can tell from the videos Landry took at an indoor pool. This means swimming lessons are offered year round. We'll definitely be taking more swimming lessons in the future!

Getting ready for Sissy

Slowly but surely we have been getting ready for Sissy to be here. Her crib is up with a bumper and sheet, there's a rocking chair and a changing table with changing pad. We just need some diapers and wipes and I think we have the essentials. Or course there's the fun part of decorating. Landry has been a huge help in this process. She has even been practicing being able to help dress Sissy in some of the onesies she picked out.

Landry painted a tabletop to go by the crib. She put on painting smock (I knew that old Clinique lab coat would come in handy)...

we chose the colors...

and she began her painting!

Using her hands and fingers made painting even more fun.

A special masterpiece in the making.

The tabletop is almost complete.

Adding the finishing touch.

Speaking of painting and getting ready for sissy...

Brad being the amazing and wonderful husband he is agreed to paint the nursery (this is the third time this room has been painted since we've been in the house).

He did get some help from Landry.

As mentioned earlier Landry has been practicing dressing Sissy. She picks a stuffed animal carefully dresses it in a onesie.

This is her favorite stuffed animal and probably her favorite onesie.

We continue to get ready for Sissy to be here.

Father's Day

We wanted to do something special for Daddy for Father's Day. I asked Landry what she would like to give Brad. She decided she wanted to paint him a coffee cup. It was a great idea. Brad has one coffee cup with Landry's handprints she made when she was 2 or 3. She picked out the cup, colors and painted it all by herself.

Getting started.

Paying close attention to detail.

Check out the concetration.

Landry had fun painting and making sure all of the white had color.

Even the inside of the cup got some color: red for love.

Time to give Daddy his Father's Day suprise. Landry was so excited!

So sweet.

On the bottom of the cup Landry wrote "I Love You 2012". On the bottom of the shorts one side says "Father's Day" and the other side says "Daddy".

Happy Father's Day Daddy, We love you!

Happy Father's Day to all fathers.

Landry's 1st trip to the dentist

Landry has needed to go to the dentist for a regular visit for some time. So May 21, that's exactly what we did. Thank you to Beth for the recommendation. Landry loved her frist trip to the dentist!
Landry was pretty excited about going to the dentist for the first time. It's a pediatric office which made it easy for Landry to feel comfortable even though it was the dentist.

Dentist offices havea come a very long way. This particular office is for kids only. If you look on the ceiling you see a black square. It's a flat screen tv.  Landry was given a choice of a few movies to watch whle getting her teeth cleaned.

One thing that is the same is those lights that shine right in your eyes, hence Landry wearing sunglasses. You can't really see the headphones but that's why Landry's hand is by her ear, she''s holding the headphones listening to the movie playing above.

Landry got to play a little. There was a room with 3 different gaming systems, toys and a flatscreen with a movie playing. This is where Landry waited to get xrays after getting her teeth cleaned.
Landry did so good the whole time we were there. She wasn't afraid of anything. The dentist was so good at explaining everything going on using words that weren't scary. She showed Landry the tools she would be using and how. I didn't get a chance to take any pictures of Landry getting xrays because I couldn't be in the xray area.  Apart from one little cavity everything looked great with Landry's teeth!

New Orleans

The Tuesday after Mother's Day we flew to New Orleans. It was such a nice visit. We pretty much caught up with each other and hung out...and caught up on some rest and relaxation. Our outings were the usual: Lafreniere Park, Chuck E. Cheese, the mall to see Gail and getting snocones. This time we even went to the Mardi Gras store.

I'm not sure we've ever made a trip to New Orleans without giong to Chuck E. Cheese. There has always been someone young enough so that we could get in. There may have been a short time period between Kyle and Landry that we didn't go, maybe. Now with Landry, Rylan, Audrey and Cooper the Chuck E. Cheese "tradition" will continue. Even the kids at heart enjoy going. Gail and Landry on the simulated roller coaster at Chuck E. Cheese. Can you tell who's really into it?

Like I said, we relaxed...

and caught up with each other.

Kyle and Austin were good sports about playing with Landry. Kyle just needed a little break.

One night when everyone came over Landry made Austin a police officer and she and Kyle were trying to escape. We couldn't figure out why she thought Austin was a policeman. We did laugh about it though. When he went back to being Austin they were buddies.

One day we went to the Mardi Gras store. There were so much more than beads. We saw so much stuff for any party with any theme. Some stuff made us say O-kay, hmmm and wow. One thing that caught Landry's eye was an Alice in Wonderland dress. Given that she love, love, loves to dress up and knew exactly who to go to, she left out of there with the dress.

She wasted no time getting into her new dress, or character, when we got back. She asked if we had seen a  White Rabbit and gave everryone a part from Alice in Wonderland. She sat down at the desk and made everyone a scroll of Wonderland.

Alice in Wonderland with her basket of scrolls. The dress even came with a matching headband.
Thank you so much Granma, Granpa and Gail!

One morning, before it got hot, we went to Lafreniere Park. We fed the ducks, turtles and nutra rats. We walked around the whole park ending at a playground. Landry had a blast feeding the animals and making a friend at the playground. Everytime we go to the park we take a picture in the same spot. Here is our picture from this year.

Granma and Landry.

After the park we were all pretty hungry. We had lunch at a little place around the corner from the house named Cafe Fresca. It was delicious! We wondered why we had never eaten there before because it was so yummy!

It wasn't long after our tasty lunch that Gail was home from work. Landry had been waiting to get in the pool to splash and play. Having the cover to block the sun's rays was really nice.

This is the bathing suit Landry had to have. She loves the hot pink skirt that came with it (there are matching bottome under the skirt).

Our little mermaid searching for treasure.

After Aunt Gail had gotten used to the water a little she and Landry had the best time splashing and playing!

Gail having a good time.

Landry having a good time.

Saturday afternoon the fun came to an end: it was time for us to go back home.  We had such a great time in New Orleans and can't wait to go back in January!

Maybe I'm a dork but I couldn't resist taking a couple of pictures of the clouds while in the air. They were so pretty.

Landry said these clouds looked like they had a castle in them.
