M.E. time

I had plans this morning to drop Landry off at school and go get my licensed changed to a Texas one. (I still have my Mississippi license, that's another post). In stead of rushing to the dmv when I got back home I made coffee and watched a little tv. I feel very relaxed. I think I'm going to do this once a week. I'm not sure if the cup of coffee I made was really better than usual or being able to drink it at my own (slow) pace made it seem that way. The last time I was able to sit and do what I want to do is in the far past. I look forward to making it weekly in the future.

Here lately...

Some time has passed between now and the last post. The week of July 6th was the week of the perfect storm; one of those weeks if it can go wrong it will and did. This past week was much better. I am thankful! Brad was in Pittsburgh. The one lingering part of that perfect storm is sooner than later we're going to have to get a whole new air conditioning unit for our house. Christmas to us from us will be earlier than normal this year. As for the rest of the events in our lives Landry is talking more and more. She mainly takes her pacifier when she sleeps...woohoo! She has the whole idea and steps of using the potty down pat; the next step is timing. We aren't in a hurry with the potty training. Landry will know when she's ready and we will be there to encourage her. For the next 2 weeks Brad will be in Nashville, TN. In only 10 days I go to Twicon (look for pictures, lots of pictures)!!!

Party at Landry's crib!

She's checking to make sure everything is working with the sinks.

LSU 1, Ole Miss 0...come on Laylay and Skip!

Landry even helps with chores around the house.

Carousel ride

Landry and Mommy on the Carousel at the mall. It was a great time, Landry had so much fun riding the horses around. She kept looking up to see how they moved. Everytime we go to the mall now, she makes the "naaayyy" horse sound and points to the horses and wants to go ride.

It's just baby fat...?

Ok, now that we're parents Brad and I pay way more attention to toys than we did before we became parents. This is a toy we noticed today while grocery shopping. I had to read the box more than once to make sure I was truly reading what I thought I was reading. I'm just...not sure about what message this toy is sending. Brad and I have yet to figure out what inspired this toy. What do you think?
I am being completely honest in saying this doll confuses me.
(I didn't have my camera, this is a picture I found on the internet.)

Our 4th of July

We had a fun 4th of July. We did a little housework before it got hot, grilled out with Megan and Jamison, Landry took her nap and we headed to the Dallas Museum of Nature and Science. It was a fun and relaxing day.

Landry ready to tackle the backyard.

Cleaning her house.

She's a hard worker!

Landry and Jamison and a triceratops skull.

Playing in the water. She really liked the big rubber duck.

Landry and Elsie the cow.

We tried to milk Elsie. We didn't get any milk though.

Almost completely under.

The past 3 weekends we have gone swimming. Landry gets braver and braver each time. Last weekend she wanted to jump off of the diving board! The first 2 times I sat on the board and lowered her to Brad. The next I don't know how many times she crawled on the diving board and jumped by herself! Brad and I were in the water to catch her. She loved it! Unfortunately I don't have any pictures as I was in the pool. Here are pictures from the weekend of June 19, before diving board weekend, of Landry going almost all of the way under the water.
Jumping...

Ready to do it again.

Happy birthday to me!

This past Friday was my birthday. I woke up and Brad had the kitchen decorated for the occasion. I was so surprised! He had a cake too. I have the most thoughtful and loving husband. Brad and Landry sang "Happy Birthday" to me. That night we ate at Fudruckers, my choice. I had the best burger I've had in a while. Brad and Landry enjoyed their supper as well. It was a nice birthday filled with resting and...you guessed it (or maybe you didn't) homework!
