Birthday Bandwagon

I think we're officially on the Birthday Bandwagon. Since the first of May we have been to 3 birthday parties and have another on today. The parties are so much fun and I know the parents put a lot of thought into each one: location, food, cake, invitations, decorations, drinks and so on. I think we'll have a a birthday party here for Landry this year....we'll have one in Mississippi too!

Eden's birthday party at McDonalds. Eden is in the top right of the picture. Next to her is June. Eden, June and Landry buddy around at school.

Carson's party at the Nature Reserve.

There was a really neat playground.

Cake pops, pretzel sticks and cookies were some of the goodies.

Landry said this swing was like a roller coaster.

Landry checking out the flowers.

Into the wild...

Out of the wild.

Landry's turn to make some bubbles.

The pretzel sticks were yummy.
Happy Birthday to....Everybody!

Go fly a kite!

These pictures are from May 10. It was very, very windy outside. We usually fly Landry's kite at the park. The wind was blowing enough this day that we decided to see how the kite would fly in the front yard. It did very well. Our neighbors have a 2 story house and Landry's kite went over it! We had a lot of fun right in our own front yard.

The kite went way up high.

Landry's turn!

Wind blown look.

Kid at heart...

Smiling at Elmo in the sky.

Lets go fly a kite...

My A.M. Adventure

This morning started out like any other morning. Breakfast, day time clothes, brush teeth and hair, put shoes on and so on. Landry was even at school right on time. I gave her a hug and kiss, walked outside and got in the car and turned the key and turned the key again. Third times a charm, I turned the key again. The only result was a few dashborad lights flickering on and off. What?! The engine would not even turn over. I called Brad and told him what was going on. "It's probably the battery and you need boosting." I called our neighbors Mr. Bill and Mrs. Diane for help. Mrs. Diane said Mr. Bill would be there shortly. Thankfully Landry's school is literally 2 minutes from our house making it the same distance from their house. After a few minutes with cable connection and the school's director's husband coming out we had a running engine. Woohoo!!! I thought "Ok, I can make it home. I just won't go anywhere. Now, when I was on the phone with Brad telling him how I just don't understand he mentioned "...cars can go dead while you're driving them." "That would majorly stink" was my reaction. Well, low and behold, I found out just how much that would stink. There is one majorish intersection between our house and Landry's school and guess what? Yes, the car died about 50 yards from that intersection! I didn't panic I just put the car in park and alerted Mr. Bill as to what was going on. Thank goodness he was right behind me. He put his hazard lights on; mine wouldn't work right, it's like they were on speed...or shorting out due to NO BATTERY POWER. So here's the picture: 3 lanes of traffic, it's 8:30 in morning and people are dropping off kids and trying to get to work and we're like 2 boulders sitting in the lane that people have to go around. After several minutes a cop happened to ride by and see us. He turned around and called another cop. They blocked 2 lanes of traffic, the one we were in and the one beside us so Mr. Bill could pull beside the Honda to boost the battery, again. The cables were connected, we waited, I turned the key and the engine started! Mr. Bill said "Now you rev the engine and get home." I looked up and the light was red. This was scary. What if I went dead a third time? I didn't go dead at the light and I made it home. I let the engine run idle for about 10 minutes...while on the phone telling Brad my a.m. adventure. I didn't hang up with him before turning the engine off to turn it back on again. The engine wouldn't start...again. I am stuck at home today, all day which is why I'm telling you every detail of my morning. I have the time to do so...and it's so fresh on my mind I won't forget anything. Hopefully I will have a new battery before it's time go get Landry...she would have loved the police cars...hhmmmmm.....

Johnston Spring Tour

The last weekend in April/first weekend in May we made a trip to Louisiana and Mississippi to see our families. When we make trips to see our families I refer to it as us "being on tour". Let me explain: we were in Mer Rouge, La Thursday night, Clarksdale, MS Friday night, Red Banks, MS Saturday night and Hernando, MS Sunday night and back in Texas Monday night. On the way home we went from Mississippi to Tennessee to Arkansas and on to Texas. We always enjoy seeing our families every chance we get. The only problem is that we never get to spend as much time with everyone as we would like. I'm not sure there would ever be enough time, no matter how long we were able to spend with everyone.

We woke up Friday morning at Uncle Blake's and Aunt Morgan's house. They have wonderfully big trees in their front yard. We, of course, had to go outside and play in them (as much as we could).
Rylan came outside too!

Landry and Rylan.

Friday night we had supper at Poppa and Nanna's. It was very yummy: homemade spaghetti, french bread, salad and strawberry shortcake. They gave Landry some crayons and pictures among other happies. She couldn't wait to color.

Aunt Skip and Landry. (right before Skip started getting Landry to say "give me that funky bass line.")

Landry, Nanna and Poppa.

Friday night we stayed at Gran's. Gran, me, Mom and Landry after lunch and before we hit the road...again.

We had a fun day Saturday with Meme, Pops, Uncle Dustin and Aunt Bug at Chuck E. Cheese's. We didn't realize it was a big birthday day and there were so many kids in there, but we had a great time anyway. I think the grown ups had just as much fun as Landry. We burned through the tokens pretty fast and Landry got some neat prizes.

Sunday we got up and had a big breakfast at Meme and Pops before heading off to Reed's 3rd Birthday party.

Landry driving one of the many John Deere's at the party.

Landry enjoying Reed's slide and playhouse. She kept calling it the castle.

Little man Chase and his big smiles. He was cracking us up! Landry wanted to take him home with us.

Reed and Landry working on their calculus homework. We decided to start them early on the hard stuff. Just kidding, I think this was a Toy Story book, they both love the characters.

We had a wonderful time!
