Dallas Arboretum

I have been wanting to go to the Dallas Arboretum for about a year now. I mentioned it to a friend, Sherilyn, and she said she and Gavin would love to go. We planned for today. When Landry and I woke up this morning at 6:50 it was grey and sprinkling rain. By the time 9:30 rolled around it was a perfect day for the Arboretum. I called Sherilyn. We were on our way by 10:30. Gavin and Landry are about the same age which is nice. They entertained each other. The Arboretum was so pretty. I took quite a few pictures. I will let them speak for themselves:

Thank you Sherilyn and Gavin for going to the Dallas Arboretum with us. We hope to go again soon. Maybe next time the dads will be with us.

Sneak peek at a work in progress

As some of you all know, I'm/we're in the proccess of changing Landry's room from a nursery to a little girl's room. I have had it in my mind to go with a soft, feminine, shabby chic girly look. Brad has been involved as much as he can with picking out shabby chic girly stuff (poor Brad, he's a trooper!). He finally told me he wanted a fun girly look (those were his exact words). Thank the Lord!!! I looked at over 500 different bedding sets/looks for little girls' rooms. I narrowed it down to fun girly or shabby chic girly. I just couldn't make the final decision. Now the ball is rolling and everything is starting to come together in a fun, shabby chic girly way!

Fun girly bedding.

We do have a safety rail. I took it off for the picture.

Landry's first dresser.

Stripping and sanding the "new" dresser.

Stripped and sanded...

Because of all of the paint the dresser was stripped twice, sanded and painted...

Viola! Landry's new dresser.

The hardware is probably my favorite part: clear glass knobs and pulls with silver middles.
I still have to make the window treatments and do some painting. I will post the final room when it's finished!

Taking pictures like I used to...

Wednesday was such a pretty day. When Brad called to say he was almost home we went outside to wait for him. While we were waiting I started taking random pictures of Landry. I used to do this all of the time when she was little. There was a little dog running down the sidewalk across the street. I think it was a chiuaua. Landry said she wanted a little dog like that one. She told me more about if she had a little dog of which I was able to get a video.
Wind in her hair.

Looking for the little doggy.

Watching for Daddy.

Love her smile.

Landry the fashionista

When it comes to putting on clothes we're tickled pink if Landry cooperates and wears a top, bottoms, shoes and socks. We have no problem with Landry picking out her own clothes. She usually does pretty well. We don't fight the battle of having everything match. There are days when we just have to smile and laugh.
This is what she picked out for church last Sunday.

"I look like Charlie Bucket?" She was so excited about wearing her bag across her chest like Charlie. She picked everything she's wearing.
And yes, Landry went out of the house like this! I think she looks adorable. I can't wait to see what her style is when she gets older!

Happy Easter!

The Easter Bunny definitely stopped by our house this year. We have been in contact with the Easter Bunny for about 2 months. One of the first times we called the Easter Bunny to tell him how well Landry was doing going potty like a big girl so please bring her something extra special. Some of those times we called to tell the Easter Bunny how well Landry was listening and doing what Daddy and Mommy asked. A couple of times we had to call back and tell the Easter Bunny Landry wasn't listening, don't bring her her glass slippers or Prince Eric. Landry ended up earning back what she had asked the Easter Bunny to bring. Daddy and Mommy are so proud of our little girl!
Dear Easter Bunny, Thank you for the candy, Prince Eric, glass slippers and bouncer!
Landry called the bouncer a "jumpy thing".

Seeing what candy is in her basket (after putting on her glass slippers).

Hunting eggs the Easter Bunny hid in the front yard. (in glass slippers)

Breaking one of the confetti eggs from the E.B.

The confetti eggs were fun!

As soon as we got home from church Landry went straight to her jumpy thing. Yes, she wore the glass slippers to church.

A few Easter videos:

We had a relaxed and very fun Easter. We did our best to explain to Landry the real reason for Easter: Jesus our Savior went back to heaven to be with his father.
